5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford has given fans an update on his health after his hair caught fire on June 13.
5 Seconds of Summer star Michael Clifford is “all good” after he caught fire while performing earlier this month.
The Australian guitarist was performing in London, England on June 13 when his hair was set alight after he got too close to a pyrotechnic display. The 19-year-old suffered burns to his face but he has assured fans that he is well on the road to recovery.
“I’m all good man, luckily it wasn’t any worse,” he told Intern Pete on KIIS 106.5 FM’s Kyle And Jackie O show.
The band was playing their hit single She Looks So Perfect at Wembley in the British capital when Michael’s head was suddenly engulfed in flames. While he was rushed to hospital, Michael has already started joking about what he thinks actually happened.
“I was shredding so fast that my fingers caught on fire,” he laughed before his bandmate Calum Hood chipped in, “That’s the story.”
While fans captured the horrifying moment on camera. Calum, 19 admitted that the rest of the band didn’t realise what was happening straightaway.
“I had no idea,” he confessed, before adding that he was gobsmacked at first. “It was scary but luckily he’s alive and well.”
The group, which also consists of Ashton Irwin and Luke Hemmings, are now in their native Australia continuing their tour. But Michael has kept fans updated on his progress since the incident.
“Hello world. im doing ok :) thanks for worrying! (sic)” he wrote on Instagram hours after being released from hospital on June 14. In the picture, the star can be seen with bandages round his head and the left side of his face.
