Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid have called their relationship quits for a second time.
Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid still “love each other dearly” after splitting for the second time.
The 18-year-old Australian pop singer and the 20-year-old supermodel decided to end their relationship again.
They dated briefly before splitting in May 2014 and reigniting their romance in November last year, but the pair still couldn’t make it work.
“Cody and Gigi want each other to be in a place right now that allows him to only focus on his music, fans, and new message, while she can focus and continue building her career,” Gigi’s representative told Us Weekly magazine in a statement. “They love each other dearly and have split up in hopes that growing on their own paths will bring them together in the future. They remain friends with no hard feelings and each other’s biggest supporters.”
An insider explained to the publication both Gigi and Cody split up because of their hectic professional duties.
The stars aren’t together most of the time, and the physical distance reportedly took its toll.
“They are hardly ever in the same city anymore and he’s entirely West Coast based now while she is everywhere,” the source noted.
Cody himself spoke of how hard it was to be in a long-distance relationship with Gigi.
The Flower singer told Us Weekly previously he often missed being in her presence.
“She’s from Malibu so she comes home a lot and I’m always out there. I stay with her. And the place I write all my music is across the street from her house. It makes it pretty easy," he said back in January. “She lives in NYC most of the time but we make it work and travel a lot. It gets a little frustrating because you never know when either of us are going to have to be overseas for a month or something.”
