Meghan Trainor: I'm about more than bass

Meghan Trainor wants to show people she can do heartbreaking songs as well as pop tracks.

Meghan Trainor isn’t just all about the sass.

The blonde singer burst on to the music scene last year, and her hit songs All About That Bass and Lips Are Movin have cemented her as one of the world’s biggest stars.

However, the 21-year-old says there’s more to her than just catchy pop songs.

“I’m not just some girl who is sassy and dances and is all about the bass. I can also do a heartbreaking song and sing my ass off too,” she told Teen Vogue.

To prove this, Meghan enlisted the help of One Direction hunk Harry Styles, with whom she has worked on a track. Although the song hasn’t yet been released, Meghan has high hopes for the tune.

“Performing a love song in front of Harry is terrifying, and on top of that I was a little nervous because he was one of the first celebrities I met. It’s a cute little number called Someday Maybe. It needs a good home. Harry was super talented at writing, and his lyrics were incredible – probably my favourite lyrics in a song.

“I remember I wrote it at midnight the night before and sent it to my mom. I was so worried he was going to hate it,” she confessed.

Meghan is currently on her first headline tour, where she still has dates in Australia, America and Europe to perform.

Her fame hasn’t sunk in though, and she often wonders why so many people show up to see her.

“I still get blown away when people recognise me. To this day, whenever I’m at events I’m always like, ‘Why, of all people, are we here right now?’ It’s awesome,” she smiled.
