One Direction stars Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson have been warned to behave themselves while in the Philippines.
Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson have been asked to post drug bonds of more than £3,000 each ahead of their concerts in the Philippines this weekend.
The One Direction stars and their bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horan will be performing at the Mall of Asia Concert Ground in the capital Manila on Saturday and Sunday as part of their On the Road Again Tour.
However, after a video leaked last year appearing to show Zayn and Louis smoking cannabis during a visit to Peru, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration have set rules for the two ahead of their arrival in the country.
They must each pay a bond of 200,000 pesos – over £3,000 – before their shows or else they won’t be able to perform. If they are caught using, or promoting, illegal substances in the city they will lose the money.
The total amount also includes a processing fee of 20,000 pesos.
“The condition is intended to protect the public interest should the band members commit any violation during their stay in the Philippines,” Elaine Tan of the department said in a statement.
Christine Ching, a spokeswoman of the Anti-Drugs Advocate, added that one of the concert producers arrived at the Immigration Bureau today to post the bonds.
“We want to see their pure, raw, untainted talent,” Christine explained, adding that there is concern surrounding the band’s negative influence of the youth in the Philippines.
Following the release of the clip last year Liam was quick to speak out and apologise for his pals’ actions. He described them as having gone “a little sideways”, but insisted that being in their early 20s they’re simply doing “stupid things” without thinking.
Zayn is already in the spotlight at the moment after photos emerged of him holding hands with a female fan while in Phuket, Thailand. The star is currently engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, 21, but the woman wasn’t her.
“I’m 22 years old… I love a girl named Perrie Edwards,” Zayn tweeted. “And there’s a lot of jealous f**ks in this world I’m sorry for what it looks like x (sic)”
