Meghan Trainor would love to record a song with Rihanna.
Meghan Trainor is rooting for Sam Smith to win a Grammy.
The 21-year-old singer has earned herself a firm place in the music world thanks to catchy track All About That Bass, which is up for both record of the year and song of the year at the annual music awards next Sunday.
Brit Sam may be her competition in both categories with his song Stay With Me, but that’s not to say Meghan isn’t supporting him.
“I want Sam to win, even though he’s going against me," she smiled to British newspaper Daily Star.
The prestigious ceremony takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and Sam is up for a staggering six gongs all together.
While his sound is quite different from Meghan’s, the blonde beauty is keen to join forces with him – if she gets her dad’s approval.
“My dad isn’t convinced, he said there’s too many slow songs in the world, but if you’ve got slow songs this good who cares," Meghan noted.
And hopefully it wouldn’t be hard for the star to land the privilege. She’s already been busy working with fellow artists and is open to what the future holds in terms of teaming up with new people, dreaming big when it comes to her ideal collaborators.
“Now I have Pharrell [Williams] calling saying he wants to write," she gushed.
“I’ve written with Harry Styles. I want to do something with Rihanna and even Beyoncé likes my music. She’s like: ‘My daughter and I dance to your music.’ It proves no-one cares if you don’t have a hit.”
