And the Oscar goes to...?

The nominees are???

The wait is over, the nominees for the 87th Academy Awards are out! In only a few weeks, we’ll also know who will take one of these desired golden boys home… again or maybe even for the first time. RELAX, Leonardo DiCaprio is not nominated this year…

As every year, there were some expected, as well as some really surprising nominations. There is the Space-Odyssey-Oscar-Pack, with “Star Trek” star Chris Pine, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams, and Oscar-winning “Gravity” director Alfonso Cuarón, which do belong to the more expected nominees.

The lead of the Oscar-Pack are “Birdman” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” with (OMG) nine nominations each. “The Imitation Game” does gets kinda close with eight nominations in total. “American Sniper” and “Boyhood” got down to six nominations and “Interstellar,” “The Theory of Everything” and “Whiplash” are right behind with five nominations each.

Kind of a bummer is the “Selma” topic. A great film about the civil rights movement in the 1960s, by director Ava DuVerany, which only earned two nominations. One for Best Picture and one for Best Song.

But no worries, this years host will certainly know how to cheer you up. Cause it’s no one less then Neil Patrick Harris at his second try!

The Academy Awards air on February 22.
