Chris Hemsworth: I don't dig LA

Chris Hemsworth thinks Hollywood is "unhealthy" for his family.

Chris Hemsworth knew straight away that Hollywood isn’t for him.

The actor is one of the industry’s hottest men, appearing in blockbusters such as Thor and Rush.

While he’s happy to embrace acting as his career, the 31-year-old isn’t interested in the showbiz lifestyle. Instead, he lives in his native Australia with his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children – two-year-old daughter India and baby twins Sasha and Tristan, who were born in March last year.

“Pretty much as soon as I visited Hollywood for the first time,” he laughed to German magazine Jolie when asked when he decided he wouldn’t live among the A-listers.

“I had to go there because that’s where the big films are made. But I knew straight away that I wouldn’t be staying there forever.

“Now I’m lucky enough to be able to live between two places with my family. Los Angeles is a little too chaotic, especially with kids.”

Chris isn’t the only one in his family who’s made it big – little brother Liam, 24, is best known for The Hunger Games movies, while 33-year-old Luke appeared in Aussie show Neighbours. The siblings enjoyed an active childhood growing up Down Under.

“In Hollywood there are too many paparazzi who will follow you all the way to your front door,” Chris sighed. “That’s not healthy for my little family. I think it’s nicer if the little ones grew up where I did, as I have so many fond memories of the place. I want them to have a childhood as good as mine.”
