They caused an uproar throughout this past year. These newcomers had their breakthrough in 2014.
The year 2014 was a musical bed of roses. Umpteen cool newcomers hit the headlines this year. Some were huge on the net, while others won over radio audiences. Some gained fame with their débuts and others have been in the game for a while, but only made it big recently.
The greatest variety of artists from the most diverse genres have made it onto our list. From hip hop artist Chance The Rapper through UK pop starlet Ella Eyre to folk singer Jamie N Commons, this colourful mixture is what also characterises this year, and it’s musical diversity without equal.Banks from LA also won over music lovers with her album ‘Goddess’ and definitely is one of the hottest newcomers of 2014. This also holds true for the folk sextet PHOX who won over a broad audience with its happy folk-pop. We also love the pleasant George Ezra who doesn’t appear anywhere without his guitar. Now, a review of the year wouldn’t be complete without FKA Twigs, winning fans both amongst ourselves and the Google team with her alternative style and unusual voice. She recently filmed an advert for the glasses made by the tech giant.
A number of promising stars are all set to race right into the new year, but we can be sure that we’ll hear a lot more about the musicians in this list in 2015.
