Robert Pattinson’s girlfriend FKA Twigs has explained the “creative freedom” she had growing up.
FKA Twigs used to “crawl around on the floor” pretending to be a cat.
The 26-year-old British singer is currently dating actor Robert Pattinson, who was there this week to watch her perform at Miami’s annual art event, Art Basel. And she’s revealed her creativity may stem from her family allowing her to be anything she wanted as a child.
“Growing up, I was allowed to be whatever I wanted to be,” she explained in a talk with American magazine Surface. “If I wanted to be a cat for a day, my mum would set a bowl of milk on the floor and I’d crawl around for the afternoon. I felt creative freedom at a young age.”
Having a clear line to her sense of creativity might explain why the young star has achieved such success in the trip-hop scene to date. Back in 2013, British newspaper The Telegraph described her as “the UK’s best example to date of ethereal, twisted R&B”.
And her 28-year-old Twilight star boyfriend is apparently quite struck by her talents, too. He attended her show at the National YoungArts Foundation on Thursday, where he’s said to have watched on in awe.
“Before the show, Rob and a group of pals hung out with FKA in her dressing room. When she went on, he and the friends watched from backstage," a source told E! News.
The insider added the actor gave her a “huge hug and a kiss” and looked “besotted with her and very proud."
The pair have been romantically linked since 2014. FKA Twigs told E! News recently that in spite of Rob’s awkward public image, he’s the “man she loves”.
“That side of my life [the paparazzi] is nothing to do with me. That’s, like… That is the… side of life of the man that I love. And… when that started happening I had to… Because that is the opposite of who I am as a person, and it was weird,” she explained.
