1D thank fans for AMA wins

One Direction have expressed their gratitude after their clean sweep at the American Music Awards last night.

Niall Horan thinks Ariana Grande’s voice is “unbelievable”.

The 21-year-old songstress took to the stage twice at the American Music Awards last night – once for a solo performance and later with Nicki Minaj and Jessie J to belt out hit collaboration Bang Bang.

One Direction’s Niall, also 21, certainly seemed impressed with the show she put on. The musician and his bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne took home three awards in Los Angeles yesterday, and he took to Twitter to thank fans.

“cannot believe what just happened this evening ! 3 AMA’s including artist of the year ! We literally cannot thank you enough! Love you lots,” he gushed in a tweet.

“Also @ArianaGrande was absolutely insane tonight ! Her vocal ability is just unbelievable ! What a voice ! (sic)”

While Ariana may have left empty handed this year, in 2013 she did take home the new artist of the year accolade at the AMAs. And not winning anything didn’t seem to dampen her spirits.

“thank u #AMAs! had so much fun. it’s an honor to be in a show alongside so many other artists I adore! loves I love u & hope u enjoyed it (sic),” she posted.

One Direction picked up the prizes for artist of the year, favourite album and favourite group. The other boys also expressed their gratitude.

“Thank you to @TheAMAs for having us. Thank you so much to everyone who voted. You make us feel very welcome and it’s lovely. All the love (sic),” Harry wrote.

“What a night ! You are the most incredible fans to ever exist thank you so so so much !! (sic),” Zayn added.
