The star-studded American Music Awards saw Iggy Azalea give a nod to feud-partner Eminem during her acceptance speech.
Taylor Swift fired up the American Music Awards on Sunday.
The songstress opened the show with an extremely imaginative performance of her hit song Blank Space. The 24-year-old stunner sang the tune for the first time on television, mimicking the track’s music video by portraying a nightmarish dinner date involving a crazed lover with poison apple in hand. The show was literally fiery, as Taylor had fire machines spitting out flames behind her while she was onstage.
Many major events transpired at the AMAs. Just Jared reports Rita Ora revealed her new track Testosterone will be dropping soon, noting her next album is due for release in January.
Although Iggy Azalea and Eminem engaged in a feud recently after he wrote graphic lyrics about raping her in his leaked song Vegas, the Australian rapper gave a nod to him as she accepted her award for Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album.
“This award is the first award I’ve ever won in my entire life, and means so much to me that it is for best hip-hop, because that’s what inspired me to move to America and pursue my dreams,” she gushed onstage in an emotional speech with producer T.I. by her side. "It’s what helped me when I was a teenager to escape and to get through my life and to better times. It means so much that I can stand here against Eminem and Drake and come out with this.”
Iggy received the honour for her debut album, The New Classic, and she was up against Eminem and Drake in the category.
Many singers wowed the audience with their riveting performances, with Charli XCX lighting up the stage during a medley of her songs. She stripped off a prom outfit only to reveal a leather goth skirt and top to a bevy of screaming fans. Sam Smith moved the crowd with A$AP Rocky as they performed their hit duet, I’m Not the Only One. And Lorde put on an energetic television performance debut of her song Yellow Flicker Beat, which appears on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 soundtrack.
The American Music Awards were filled to the brim with A-listers this year as Heidi Klum, Jordin Sparks, Lucy Hale, One Direction, Jennifer Lopez, Imagine Dragons, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Lil Wayne, Christina Milian and more were in attendance.
