Simon Cowell doesn't like that One Direction didn't win the UK X Factor even though they've had massive success.
Simon Cowell and One Direction are still “p**sed off” they didn’t take the UK X Factor crown.
The superstar boyband were formed during the 2010 show, when Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne all originally auditioned as solo stars.
Although they only came in third place they have gone on to enjoy global success and regularly sell out concert dates around the world. However, not winning is still a sore point for Simon and the boys.
“Even though One Direction didn’t win, whenever we talk about it, we are still p**sed off,” Simon admitted to British newspaper Metro. “It still hurts that we didn’t win the competition; you want to be known as X Factor winners. It’s a badge of honour.”
The music mogul quit the UK version to occupy a judging seat on the American show, but made a welcome return to Britain earlier this year.
He asked Mel B to join the panel and has praised the fiery star as “a revelation”.
Her Spice Girls training has obviously stood her in good stead but boss Simon let slip she’s been after the job for a quite some time.
“I think Mel has shown tremendous passion and protectiveness to her contestants," he said.
“She really takes this mentoring very seriously. I think she’s been a revelation. Mel has been after this job for five years and she just loves it.”
The 55-year-old became a first time father in February when his girlfriend Lauren Silverman gave birth to their son Eric.
Earlier this week Simon revealed his top tricks for easing nerves when taking to the stage.
“Think of the entire audience naked,” he quipped.
