Kaya Scodelario is glad she could experience all her teenage "f**k-ups" in private.
Kaya Scodelario is relieved no one expected her to be “perfect” as a teenager.
The 22-year-old star had her big break in Brit show Skins, about a group of young people and the ups and downs of their lives.
Despite being just 14 when she was cast in the show, Kaya never felt the pressure to act a certain way in the limelight.
“It wasn’t like a Disney show,” she shrugged to Time Out London magazine. "We weren’t expected to be perfect.
“So if anyone saw me in a pub when I was 16, they weren’t ringing up the papers and saying that they saw the crazy one from Skins in a pub. I still got to experience all the f**k-ups in private.”
Kaya’s career is going from strength to strength, and she can currently be seen in The Maze Runner alongside Will Poulter. And while she’s pleased with the way things are, her aspirations are about more than acting.
“Everyone asks, ’What’s your goal? Do you want to win an Oscar? Do you want to work with Meryl Streep? No! I want to buy my mum a house. I want to make her proud,” she smiled.
Just as she’s sure about what she wants, the star knows what she will avoid. She recently claimed she could never be a Bond girl, but clarified her comment.
“I would play a Bond girl, I just wouldn’t want to sleep with Bond,” she said. “I would want to kill him at the end. I’d rather be that Bond girl.”
