Sarandon: My dolls had to share

Susan Sarandon has always had a strong sense of justice.

Susan Sarandon used to make sure her dolls took it in turns to wear the best outfits.

The 68-year-old star is proud to be known for her outspoken attitude. She protested against the Vietnam War when she was 17, did the same for the 2003 war in Iraq and has marched on behalf of women’s right to abortion.

Her desire for a fair world began when she was just a little girl.

“I developed a sense of justice early on. It started with my dolls: I made sure each had a turn at wearing the pretty dresses,” she told British magazine Hello!, adding that she even looks after people in her dreams.

“I have a recurring nightmare. There’s a disaster, I am meant to flee with my brothers and sisters but I can’t find them.”

Susan has also become something of a trailblazer. She has two children with her ex-partner Tim Robbins, 55, with their romance initially garnering column inches because of the age difference.

They are no longer together but she has found happiness with another younger guy; this time 37-year-old Jonathan Bricklin, who is an investor in her table tennis bar sPin.

“Choosing to turn your life upside down when you are in your 60s is both terrifying and exciting,” she enthused.

“It’s the soul of the person that interests me. When you are in love, the questions of age, sex, colour no longer hold any importance.”

The limelight doesn’t hold much interest for the star either, as she prefers to while away her time having good food with friends and relaxing in the sun.
