Vanessa Hudgens can’t wait to star in forthcoming Broadway show, Gigi.
Vanessa Hudgens is “so excited” to be starring in Broadway play, Gigi.
Earlier this week it was announced the 25-year-old actress will take the lead in a new production of the musical, which is based on the 1944 novella by French writer Colette.
And the High School Musical star can’t wait to grace the stage in Gigi.
“Bonjour. Je m’appelle gigi.” she wrote on Instagram Thursday in a caption attached to a selfie which sees the star covering her mouth with dramatically long and pointy fingernails. “ahhhh I can’t believe it. So excited. So much love. ❤? #chooselamour”
The forthcoming theatre production will see Vanessa star in a Washington D.C. showing from January 16 to February 12 of next year before the play moves to New York City.
Late actress Audrey Hepburn famously starred in a 1958 film called Gigi. The storyline of the classic tale centres on a teenager girl who is being primed to serve as a wealthy playboy’s companion. Although the pair were bored of each other initially, they later realise they have fallen madly in love.
Vanessa has previously spoken about her personal connection to Gigi.
“My mom’s name is Gina, her nickname’s been Gigi. We have a dog named Gigi. Gigi is very prevalent in our lives,” she laughed to the Associated Press.
Specific Broadway dates of Vanessa’s new production Gigi have not yet been set, but it is anticipated the schedule will be released soon.
