Michelle Dockery lost her cool when Puff Daddy approached her table at the Golden Globes.
Michelle Dockery turned into a fan girl when Puff Daddy waved at her.
The British actress has enjoyed success both sides of the pond thanks to her starring role in smash hit period drama Downton Abbey.
While she’s now a regular at glitzy showbiz parties, 32-year-old Michelle admits that she doesn’t always keep her cool around fellow celebrities.
“Being in the same room as actors that you’ve watched and loved for years is exciting. Award shows are fun, but they’re something I’ll never get used to,” Michelle confessed to British magazine Grazia.
“P. Diddy was at the [Golden] Globes and saw our table and waved. I was like, ‘Oh my god! Sean Combs is coming over to say hello!’ He was just amazing. Things like that will happened and it’s surreal.”
Playing the part of Lady Mary Crawley in the opulent British TV series has also made Michelle a style icon, bagging her a spot on the guest list for the annual Met Ball.
This is another event Michelle finds it hard to come to terms with, and she can’t help but feel star struck when mingling with A-listers.
“The Met Ball is like Madame Tussauds, but everyone moves. I was like, ‘Yep, that’s Sarah Jessica Parker, that’s Kylie, that’s Beyoncé, no big deal…’ The first year, Laura Carmichael [Lady Edith Crawley] and I turned up thinking no one would know who we were, and then they all said they’d been watching Downton!” she recalled.
Michelle has now made the move from small screen to cinema, recently starring alongside Lupita Nyong’o, Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson in action thriller Non-Stop.
Filming the adrenaline fuelled movie was a fun experience for the star, but not a world away from working on Downton.
“Getting into character is about getting the voice right. It’s the same with Lady Mary. The [Non-Stop] writer was adamant that Nancy was northern so it was great that Lupita and I both got to do accents. Because you’re working in such close proximity, we would spend most of the day together. We had such a fun time; it was a really fun job. It was a very happy set,” she smiled.
