Emily Blunt: Motherhood is existential

New mother Emily Blunt finds parenting interesting because she is often surprised by what occurs when she’s with her baby.

Emily Blunt thinks motherhood is an “incredibly existential” experience.

The 31-year-old Edge of Tomorrow actress and her husband John Krasinski welcomed their first child, daughter Hazel, on February 16.

And a few months into parenting, Emily remains blown away by how surprising motherhood is.

“[It’s been] wonderful, because I don’t know if it’s anything you can plan for,” she told E! Online. “It’s such an incredibly existential crazy thing and I love it."

Emily married fellow actor John in 2010 and she has previously gushed over how much he’s altered everything for the better.

“This is what I find difficult about talking about my marriage: It’s hard to sum up something that’s so vital and means everything to you in a sound bite. Do you know what I mean?” she told Manhattan magazine. “All I can say is that it’s an effing blast. It’s just great, and I’m so happy.”

Emily credits John with making her feel as if anything is possible.

And the British star appreciates how enthusiastically involved he is in her everyday affairs.

“Meeting John really changed my life,” she told InStyle magazine. “When I feel the support I have from him, I feel invincible. There’s someone behind you on your good days, and someone in front of you on your bad days.”

Emily met John after breaking up with Canadian singer Michael Bublé in 2008. She and Michael were together for three years before they called it quits.
