Ricky Gervais: I love being annoying

Ricky Gervais "can't help himself" when it comes to annoying people.

Ricky Gervais takes “too much pride” in aggravating people.

The 52-year-old actor is known for his witty humour and quick-fire jokes.

When asked where there might be room for improvement in his personality, Ricky shared one of his immature qualities.

“I do take too much pride in annoying people. Someone sent me a tweet the other day saying, ’You’re worth £80 million and you haven’t got your teeth fixed.’ I replied, ‘When you’re this rich you get your butler to chew your food,’” he mused to British magazine Q. “I suppose I should ignore people, but I can’t help myself…”

Ricky rose to fame as David Brent in his hit TV show The Office, which has been adapted for over 80 countries since it began in the UK in 2001. His appearance has changed dramatically since then, mainly down to his weight loss. It was an occasion where the funnyman ate eight sausages which made him realise he needed to get into shape.

“I was in a sweat. I turned to my girlfriend and said, ‘I think I’m going to have a heart attack,’” he recalled. “I was 48, which was when I was at my fattest. I thought, ’That’s enough. Life’s great. Why do I want to blow it?’ At 28 I was trim, and I’m talking 140lbs. Then I started working in the job which became The Office job and I just got fatter. I always knew I was overweight because I ate too much. I wasn’t kidding myself; I wasn’t saying I had big bones or it was glandular. I was worried about dying in my 50s, which is such a shame and can be avoided.”
