Depp and Heard’s Broadway date

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard supported the cast of Cabaret.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were among stars in the crowd at Cabaret’s opening night.

The couple, who confirmed their engagement at the end of last year, were pictured holding hands outside of New York City’s Studio 54 before the curtains rose on Broadway stars Alan Cumming and Michelle Williams, taking on their respective roles as Emcee and Sally Bowles.

Brooke Shields, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Simon, Jane Krakowski and co-director and choreographer Rob Marshall were also in the crowd.

Johnny and Amber were seen earlier this week celebrating Amber’s 28th birthday in the city.

The pair met on the set of their 2011 movie The Run Diary and came out as a couple in 2012, shortly after his split from longtime partner Vanessa Paradis.

Johnny gushed about his fiancée during an interview earlier this month, but admits being in a relationship with another actor wasn’t necessarily what his other half was looking for.

“I bet I’m just the kind of person Amber never wanted to be with,” he smiled to German magazine TV Movie. “But it feels right for both of us.”

Recent reports have suggested Amber has helped to curb Johnny’s alleged hard-partying ways.

“Last year he was partying with six chicks and getting turned away from bars, this year he’s quietly going to dinner with Amber and you never see him do anything wrong,” a source told Radar Online earlier this month.

The Pirates of the Caribbean meanwhile continues to sing her praises at seemingly every press opportunity.

“She’s a wonderful girl,” he recently told Today’s Savannah Guthrie.

“She’s sharp as a tack. A Southern belle and sweet as can be, and very good for me,” he said.
