Simon Cowell says his son Eric is "as good as gold"
Simon Cowell feels more “relaxed” since becoming a father.
The 54-year-old and his partner Lauren Silverman welcomed their baby boy Eric on Valentine’s Day this year. When asked whether his son is keeping him up at night crying, Simon insisted it wasn’t a problem for the new parents.
“No, not at all,” he smiled to the British edition of OK! magazine. "He’s been as good as gold – but I’ve also become more relaxed, to be quite honest.
“I’m coping really well – we’ve got a great baby nurse. He’s a little sweetheart, he’s no trouble.”
Eric is named after Simon’s late dad and his mother Julie was “thrilled” when she met the little bundle of joy for the first time. The 54-year-old, who has previously been adamant he will never change a diaper, also added that he’s “thinking about” giving it a go.
As well as settling into fatherhood, Simon has been busy planning the upcoming series of The X Factor UK, in which he will resume his place on the judging panel alongside Cheryl Cole. Further mentors are yet to be confirmed and the TV mogul brushed off rumours that Rihanna is a likely candidate.
“I swear to god I haven’t spoken to her,” he assured the magazine when asked about the Barbadian 26-year-old. “I saw her in Barbados at Christmas time. I think she’d like to, but I doubt she’d have the time to do it. You need that 11-week clear run to do the live shows, so I can’t see it happening.”
Rihanna has previously appeared on the British talent show to perform her songs.
