Dave Franco doesn't understand why people still talk about his audition for Twilight.
Dave Franco thinks it would have been a “tragedy” if Robert Pattinson hadn’t met Kristen Stewart.
The 28-year-old star, whose older brother is James Franco, previously revealed he once auditioned for the lead in vampire franchise Twilight. He doesn’t let the rejection bother him, but often wonders what would have happened if he had landed the part opposite Kristen.
She and Robert dated after meeting on set, but split up last year after she cheated with married director Rupert Saunders.
“One of my greatest fears is completely losing all anonymity. I tested for the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight when I was just starting out as an actor – now I don’t think of it as a huge loss,” he admitted to the May issue of British magazine Marie Claire. “It’s crazy that after seven years people still bring it up. It would have been a tragedy if I’d prevented the whole Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart thing.”
Dave has gone on to make a name for himself with roles such as Cole Aaronson in TV series Scrubs and Eric Molson in comedy movie 21 Jump Street.
Although he is now confident enough to stand up to his older sibling’s taunts, the handsome star refrains from doing so.
“James will never let go of the fact that I was crowned homecoming king in high school. I’ll be hearing about that until the day I die,” he laughed. “It comes with the territory – as the younger brother, I have to take some of the sh*t. I have plenty of ammo I could throw back at him, but I’m trying to be the bigger man.”
