Jamie Dornan says he “has no idea” how starring in highly anticipated movie Fifty Shades of Grey will change his life.
Jamie Dornan acknowledges starring in Fifty Shades of Grey is a “powerful position”.
The 32-year-old British actor landed the coveted title role of Christian Grey in the highly-anticipated film based on E. L. James’ erotic novel.
But although he knows it’s a big deal, Jamie confesses he doesn’t have a clue how this type of notoriety will alter his life.
“I have no idea,” he revealed during a forthcoming episode of late-night UK TV programme The Graham Norton Show.
“I mean, look, we’re in a really powerful position that 90-plus million people have read the book so if like a third—I mean, a hundredth of those people—that’s successful if they go see the film. It’s a nice position to be in, but I have no idea what it’s gonna do.”
When the media caught wind of Jamie’s role in Fifty Shades of Grey, he almost instantly became an international household name.
And the star believes all the attention he’s received of late has sparked up insecurities about his stride.
“So basically, I’ve always had a complex with the way I walk,” the former model explained.
“I’ve not always been told I’ve got a bad walk, but someone’s always commented on my walk. It’s always been a bit like, ‘All right. That’s how you walk?’”
He discovered why he had a unique walk whilst preparing for a dance scene with his Fifty Shades co-star Dakota Johnson, who plays his character’s love interest Anastasia Steele in the film.
Jamie felt as if he was experiencing an epiphany when their dance teacher instructed him to walk heel-to-toe.
“No one ever told me that!” he exclaimed. “I was always toe-to-more-toe! Now I just apply that every day, when I’m walking around.”
Jamie’s interview on The Graham Norton Show will be broadcast in the UK on March 8.
Fifty Shades of Grey is slated for release around Valentine’s Day in 2015.
