McCarthy attacks LaBeouf

Jenny McCarthy believes Shia LaBeouf’s comments on Twitter were “below the belt”.

Jenny McCarthy has slammed Shia LaBeouf for dissing Jim Carrey.

The Transformers star criticised Jim’s parenting skills on Twitter after The Mask actor blasted him at the Golden Globes.

And now Jenny has defended her former flame Jim on The View.

“It’s like you can attack [me], but don’t bring my children into it. I’m sure it’s the same with Jim,” she explained during Tuesday’s episode.

“Jim and I have become friends since our breakup, and I got to know his daughter, Jane, who is a lovely, lovely girl,” she added.

Her comments come after Shia, 27, took to Twitter for the latest in a bizarre stream of messages.

After Jim poked fun at him while presenting an award at the Golden Globes, Shia posted a video of Jim’s daughter Jane, 26.

“At least I don’t get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child’s,” he wrote in the now deleted tweet.

Soon after, the star tweeted an apology to the Bruce Almighty actor.

“Jim Carrey states that he is deeply involved in his daughter’s life – I accept that, regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents,” he wrote.

But 41-year-old Jenny, who dated Jim for five years until they broke up in April 2010, was not impressed.

The model was quick to voice her opinions on the matter during the show.

“It’s completely uncalled for and wrong,” she said. “Jim is a great father and he loves Jane more than anything in the world.

“I think it was just below the belt. The whole thing is, do not bring our children into it.”
