Mariah Carey thinks her family is “stronger” after suffering tough Christmases the past few years.
Mariah Carey hopes the “difficult seasons” are behind her.
The 43-year-old singer shares twins with husband Nick Cannon and the past few Christmas celebrations have been tense.
Nick was hospitalised for mild kidney failure around Christmastime in 2011, and Mariah wants her family to be well this holiday season.
“We’ve had a couple difficult seasons these past years. Nick had a health scare. We went to the hospital one Christmas, that was a tough year for us… whatever it is will make you stronger,” she told Extra.
Mariah reveals she and Nick will be spending the holiday in Aspen, Colorado with their daughter Monroe and son Moroccan.
The singer says the toddlers are excited to learn more about Santa Claus.
“They’re two-and-a-half now and so now they really get it. They saw Santa today. They’re going to see him again soon,” Mariah gushed.
The songstress thinks it’s important to instill charity in her twins while they’re young.
This year she and Nick have been teaching their children how to give back.
“I know that these babies cannot grow up thinking this is normal. So what I plan on doing, what we kind of started this Thanksgiving, is for them to learn that we give back,” Mariah explained.
“That this is not the typical, not reality. We feed other people. You have to help others.”
Mariah married 33-year-old Nick in April 2008 on her private estate in the Bahamas.
