M.I.A.: I’m going to Super Bowl

M.I.A. jokes she will attend the 2014 Super Bowl next year to support Bruno Mars despite NFL’s civil suit against her.

M.I.A. plans on “supporting Bruno Mars” at the Super Bowl next year despite her pending lawsuit.

The 38-year-old singer was sued by the National Football League for $1.5 million in March 2012.

The civil suit was filed just months after M.I.A., real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, put up her middle finger during her Super Bowl Half Time performance with Madonna and Nicki Minaj.

While hopping into her car in Los Angeles, M.I.A. joked to a TMZ cameraman about whether she will attend next year’s Super Bowl.

“I’m thinking about it, I think I’m supporting Bruno Mars,” she teased while in the backseat of her vehicle.

M.I.A. has shared her thoughts on the NFL proceedings previously via YouTube.

In the online video she writes off the lawsuit as something completely ridiculous and sexist.

“It’s a massive waste of time, a massive waste of money,” M.I.A said. "It’s a massive display of powerful corporation d**k shaking.

“They want me on my knees, to say sorry so they can slap me on my wrist, and basically say it’s okay for me to promote being sexually exploited as a female, but then to display female empowerment through being punk rock.”

The NFL wants M.I.A. to pay them damages for breaching her performance contract and disgracing the organisation’s reputation with her antics.

The star released her fourth studio album Matangi this month and she is currently promoting the LP.
