Taylor Swift's management were keen for her to give people a "break" from her voice.
Taylor Swift had to “fight” to put out her latest song.
The singer recorded track Sweeter Than Fiction for movie One Chance, which stars James Corden as Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts.
It was a challenge to get her team to agree to the project, as the 23-year-old usually has a strict plan to stick to.
“I had to fight to do this because I try to take a break in between albums and try and give people a minute to not hear me on the radio,” she explained to BBC Newsbeat.
“I had to go around and ask people, ‘Can I please, please put something out?’ even though we’re supposed to be going quiet.”
Taylor released her album Red in 2012 and is currently touring with Ed Sheeran.
Her hits We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and I Knew You Were Trouble received a lot of airtime, hitting number one and two in the US Billboard Hot 100 respectively.
“My management, my label were like, ‘No new music until the next album comes out,’” she recalled.
“Then I saw the movie and I was like, ‘I have to be a part of this.’”
Paul won the talent contest in 2007 and One Chance documents his incredible story.
Taylor thinks the flick will help others to realise their dreams of stardom.
“I think this movie is so incredible, it’s funny, it’s adorable, it’s heart-warming and I’m lucky to be a part of it,” she gushed.
“Anyone watching this film is going to be inspired to do something, to write a song, to go after what they want or to be supportive of someone they love who has a dream.”
