Paula Patton was happy with Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus' VMA routine.
Robin Thicke’s wife Paula Patton doesn’t think Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance was a “big deal”.
Both musicians put on a raunchy performance for Robin’s hit single Blurred Lines at the annual MTV Video Music Awards last month. Despite receiving negative responses surrounding her husband’s act, Paula maintains the show was thoroughly rehearsed and that she pulls similar moves while out dancing with her pals.
“Honestly, they rehearsed for three days beforehand, and I don’t know how not to dance with someone having their booty all in your… all my friends do it like that,” she insisted to host Andy Cohen on Look What Happens Live. “And, I don’t really know what the big deal is.”
Paula continued to question what viewers expected from her husband and Miley when they came on stage. The pop star was heavily criticised for her provocative dance moves while wearing a nude latex bikini.
However Paula believes the mood reflected Miley’s own track We Can’t Stop, which she performed before joining Robin, and which is about having fun at a party.
“I don’t know if they thought Miley was going to sit down and play piano like Alicia Keys. Her song’s about taking Molly!” she added, referring to misheard lyrics from the song. which read ‘dancing with Miley’.
Since the controversial event, and after a turbulent few months, Miley and her fiancé Liam Hemsworth have confirmed their break up.
The Hunger Games actor was photographed by E! News seemingly kissing Mexican singer-and-actress Eiza González in Las Vegas over the weekend. Following the split he has reportedly told his former wife-to-be she can keep her 3.5 carat engagement ring as a peace offering.
“[Liam] wants Miley to keep the ring. He wouldn’t ask for it back. Liam told Miley to keep it and do with it what she wanted. He told her to keep it as a memento of their love affair,” a source told RadarOnline.com.
