Lovato ‘sick of twerking’

Demi Lovato wishes the planet wasn’t so obsessed with the twerking dance craze.

Demi Lovato thinks the twerking dance craze has run its course.

The 21-year-old wishes the planet could return to a time when youth culture wasn’t obsessed with the provocative dance.

Miley Cyrus brought the movement to a wider audience and now Demi thinks it is getting out of hand.

“Can the world stop talking about twerking please?” she tweeted on Tuesday.

The former Disney actress shared the message on Twitter but was adamant she wasn’t slamming her former network pal.

Miley, 20, showed off her booty shaking moves at the MTV VMAs two weeks ago and but Demi isn’t out to attack her choices.

“Btw – no shade thrown.. Don’t even try to start that c**p,” she added on the micro-blogging website. “Haha… the term twerking just needs to disappear like the word swag does too. (sic)”

Demi called for her followers to revert to the more general term “dancing” to get back into her good books.

“I just don’t know what happened to the word "dancing"…. Can I getta amen?!! (sic)" the Heart Attack singer joked.

Even 19-year-old One Direction member Harry Styles is on her side.

He recently confessed he thinks twerking promotes promiscuity.

“I think it’s quite inappropriate, especially for the age group it’s aimed at,” he told Moviefone.

Demi is returning to The X Factor USA as a judge for her second season this year, alongside Simon Cowell, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio and recently said she thinks being a role model is her “biggest responsibility”.

She checked into rehab in 2010 to deal with “physical and emotional issues” related to bulimia and self-harm and she has been open about her struggles.

“To be a role model is my biggest responsibility,” she told America’s OK! magazine. “It’s about being honest – it’s about being open.”
