Robin Thicke: upstaged by Cyrus

Robin Thicke reportedly regrets inviting Miley Cyrus to perform with him at the VMAs.

Robin Thicke reportedly believes Miley Cyrus “overshadowed” him at the VMAs.

The Blurred Lines singer teamed up with the We Can’t Stop songstress for a duet at MTV’s Video Music Awards Sunday night.

Miley, 20, put on a raucous show, twerk dancing with giant teddy bears while stripping down to a nude bikini, grinding against Robin and kissing him on the neck.

“Robin thought it would be fun to include Miley, but he didn’t realize how much she would overshadow him,” a source told Us Weekly magazine.

Robin, 37, recently released Blurred Lines, his lead single from his sixth studio album, following an almost two-year hiatus.

He allegedly thinks he made a bad decision asking her to share the stage with him, as he wanted the media focus to be on him, not Miley.

“This was his big night and big performance," the source explained.

“I don’t think he would have done it knowing what it ended up like.”

Robin also reportedly feels slighted for not taking an award home on the night.

“He’s also super bummed that he didn’t win, especially Video of the Year,” the insider said.

Meanwhile Miley’s camp is said to be shocked by what occurred onstage as it wasn’t what was originally planned.

“Miley’s team is freaking about that performance,” another insider claimed.

“They saw the rehearsals, but those were really played down compared to the live performance.”
