Usher’s ex-wife is reportedly looking for another opportunity to take him back to court for custody of their two boys.
Usher’s ex-wife is reportedly “waiting” to take him back to court.
The singer shares two children, five-year-old Usher Raymond V and four-year-old Naviyd, with stylist Tameka Foster.
The couple were embroiled in a bitter custody battle months after their 2009 divorce, which resulted in Usher gaining primary custody of the boys.
The issue was reignited following a near-drowning accident involving their oldest, who was hospitalised earlier this month after he became stuck in the drain of his father’s swimming pool at Usher’s Atlanta, Georgia home.
Tameka requested an emergency custody hearing after the incident but a judge once again sided with the singer.
Star magazine reports Tameka hasn’t given up. She’s is simply waiting for another opportunity to face-off with her ex, according to the tabloid.
“She was waiting for the right time to take him back to court and she thought this was the perfect ammunition. She’s bitter,” a source said.
Usher Raymond V was swimming under his aunt’s supervision when he reportedly got stuck in the pool drain.
Tameka was worried sick while the boy was in hospital but she has reportedly acknowledged that it was just an accident.
“Usher loves his kids. He wouldn’t intentionally leave them in an unsafe situation. It was an accident,” the insider continued.
Tameka lost her 11-year-old son from a previous relationship in a jet ski accident last summer and when Usher called to inform her of Usher V’s accident it brought back painful memories.
“I was at a dental appointment, and he doesn’t call me regularly, so when I saw his number come up, I immediately jumped up,” she told Good Morning America.
“I don’t know if there’s a way for blood pressure to peak higher so quick. I was mad, because I was like, ‘How did this happen? Who was watching him? Why was my son underwater for, you know, nearly three minutes?’”
Usher V has sported a bandage on his arm since being released from hospital but doctors say he will make a full recovery.
