Matt Damon got “grumpy” on the set of new film Elysium because he was on a strict eating plan.
Matt Damon was “grumpy” while filming Elysium due to his restrictive diet.
The 42-year-old actor stars in the new sci-fi picture opposite Jodie Foster.
The film is set in the year 2154 and Matt portrays character Max, a man who goes on a mission to unite the polarised human population.
Matt found shooting the picture slightly challenging because he was unable to snack on the things that he really wanted to eat.
“I was grumpy on the set, because I was on a diet for the whole movie,” Matt admitted to Variety. “At my age, I want to eat everything in my path.”
Matt’s character dons an exoskeleton suit in the film, which required him to be in good shape in order to fit in the costume.
The star has spoken previously about the challenges he faced moving around in the futuristic warrior ensemble.
“When I first saw the pictures of it, [director Neill Blomkamp] had created this graphic novel on his computer and invented this whole exoskeleton thing. I looked at it and went, ‘This is going to be a nightmare.’” he revealed in an interview with i09.com recently.
“I didn’t say anything, but I’ve done 50 movies at this point. I took one look at that thing and thought it would be really rough. But they made it really comfortable. I mean, I think as comfortable as they could.”
Elysium lands in theatres this month.
