Kelly Osbourne: My kids won't be American

Kelly Osbourne has joked she doesn't want her brother to have another baby as her niece Pearl is so "perfect".

Kelly Osbourne will “kill herself” if her children call her “Mom”.

The 28-year-old recently announced her engagement to her boyfriend of two years Matthew Mosshart, admitting he secretly proposed during a romantic New Year holiday. Kelly has made no secret of her desire to have a family, but doesn’t want her brood to grow up with American accents.

“I want to have kids – a boy and a girl – but I’d only want to have them with Matthew. I’d like to live in England when I do, as I will not have a baby call me ‘Mom’. I will kill myself before being called that,” she laughed to the latest edition of UK magazine Cosmopolitan. “I’m in no rush, though – I’m happy watching my brother do it first.”

Kelly’s younger sibling Jack has a daughter, Pearl, with his wife Lisa. She loves spending time with her niece, and hopes her children will be as special as Pearl.

“My niece Pearl is 18 months old. She’s beautiful. Matthew and I turn to each other and say, ‘If we have a kid, will it be as perfect as Pearl?’ And we’re like, ‘Jack, don’t have another baby, because we will not like that baby as much,’” she joked.

“Seriously, she’s so smart. On a weekend they’ll bring her into bed, and when she decides she wants to get down, she holds on to the duvet and uses it as a parachute while she throws herself off the bed. And her favourite band is Daft Punk – she dances to Get Lucky. It’s the coolest thing ever.”

Kelly shot to fame when her family landed their own reality show on MTV. She is very close to her rocker dad Ozzy and mother Sharon and will always be grateful to have had such supportive parents. Seeing them each going through health battles in the past has made her realise how important they are to her.

“I used to wake up every morning and go, ‘My mum is so stupid, she doesn’t know anything.’ Now I wake up and I go, ‘Mum is so smart. Why didn’t I listen to her when I was younger?’ She’s the best mother – and friend – in the world and it makes me cry saying that. She’s given up so much so I could be me,” she said.

Kelly graces the front cover of the current issue of Cosmopolitan. The star has battled weight and drug addiction issues in the past and feels overwhelmed to now be appearing in magazine photoshoots.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be a Cosmo covergirl,” she explained. “I’m not perfect, but I don’t want to be the prettiest in the room. I will always have a mouth like a truck driver and I will always be tomboyish. It’s about realising that, no matter how hard you try, you will only ever be yourself.”
