Lady Gaga wants fans to talk about her new music in an app coinciding with the release of her forthcoming album, ARTPOP.
Lady Gaga is offering a free app for her forthcoming album ARTPOP.
The Paparazzi singer has been heavily promoting her next record, set for release this fall.
Gaga revealed via Twitter on Wednesday she’s releasing an app for Android and iOS devices that will support the album.
“The ARTPOP app is Free, available in App Stores on your device, you can purchase the music through the ARTPOP app once it’s downloaded.
“Or you can purchase the album at the music store+download the free app separately at the app store,” she wrote.
The app will be available worldwide. It is part of an interactive multimedia project which will allow listeners to talk to each other about the music, she said.
“The APP is in essence, an interactive jewel case,” Gaga continued.
ARTPOP will be available November 11.
It is the singer’s first album since 2011’s Born This Way.
The star announced earlier this week her first single from the record, entitled Applause, will be available August 19.
The album and app will be available for pre-order the same day.
Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, will debut Applause at the MTV Video Music Awards the following week.
The August 25 performance will mark a major triumph for the singer, who underwent hip surgery in February to treat a hip break, a labral tear and severe inflammation of her joints.
The star was wheelchair-bound for several weeks and had to cancel the remaining dates on her Born This Way Ball concert tour, as well as put the album on hold.
She recently spoke of her injury.
The singer admitted it was far more severe than anyone previously thought.
“When we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip," she told Women’s Wear Daily this week.
“I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage. The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer.”
