Zayn Malik doesn't think he landed the short straw with the dressing up options available for One Direction's new video.
Zayn Malik enjoyed dressing up as “a sexy, sexy secretary”.
The One Direction heartthrob donned ladies’ attire to get into character for the video to accompany the band’s new single Best Song Ever.
In a behind-the-scenes clip from the set of the promo, Zayn revealed he liked being a woman.
“I’m dressing up as a sexy, sexy secretary. I don’t think I’ve drawn the short straw,” Zayn shared in the video for UK TV show Daybreak.
“I’m airbrushing out my tattoos as my character doesn’t have any tattoos.”
On the second day of filming, Zayn, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Niall Horan were joined by extras on set.
The cheeky stars joked that in real life office workers are not like the ones seen gallivanting around in the promo.
“Day two and the set has been transformed into an office,” Zayn explained. “There’s a lot of crazy office workers dancing. Everyone is very, very enthusiastic and they are all very good dancers.”
While Zayn plays a lady in the promo, Harry dresses up as a nerd with Liam donning the attire of a camp choreographer.
Niall and Louis take on the roles of music industry bigwigs, and are seen spending four hours in the make-up chair to complete their transformations.
“The idea of the video is that we are sat in a Hollywood movie office and we get offered the film by some big shots. One of them has all these ideas that we hate and then we go and have to come up with new ideas,” Louis added.
The pop stars are also gracing the cover of US magazine Teen Vogue’s September issue. In a sneak peek at the interview, the boys share what life in the spotlight is like.
“We’re humbled that so many fans have bothered. It was a bit too busy for me [today]. I like to chill somewhere quiet. I get pleasure from the little things in life," Zayn explained.
Liam added they don’t ask for any strange requests on their rider when touring either.
“We never actually sat there and made one. They bring us the stuff they think we like. We’re not really that diva," Liam smiled.
