Katie Holmes has ditched her daughter Suri's extravagant way of life because she wants her to fit in at school.
Katie Holmes is making her daughter Suri more “grounded” by ditching her designer wardrobe.
The actress raises the seven-year-old with her ex-husband Tom Cruise and the little girl’s closet is legendary. In 2011 it was claimed she had clothes totalling £2 million, including Hermes bags worth £11,000 and Gucci shoes costing £93,000.
Suri has been spotted out and about in less costly outfits lately, which is apparently all part of Katie’s plan to ensure she isn’t spoilt.
“Katie is keen to make Suri grounded and wants her to lead a more normal life, away from the more extravagant and unpredictable lifestyle with Tom,” an insider told British magazine Heat. “Tom used to spoil her by buying expensive clothes and Katie has stopped that – she wants her to be like all the other kids at school.”
Tom is famed for splashing the cash where his daughter is concerned. In April it was claimed he had stumped up $7 million for a private jet for her birthday, to ensure he could still see her regularly even though Katie has custody.
It has been suggested Suri has a taste for the finer things in life, after she was seen wearing high heels on many occasions and throwing tantrums. However, these allegations have been dismissed as Suri is happier than ever despite her new toned-down lifestyle.
“Suri doesn’t know the price of things. She’s fine with it. Suri actually gets more clothes now but they’re way more reasonable for conservative Katie,” the source explained.
