Amanda Bynes 'under 5150 hold'

Amanda Bynes has been placed under a psychiatric hold, it has been claimed.

Amanda Bynes has reportedly been placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.

The actress has been at the centre of a storm of headlines over the last few months. She has repeatedly slammed stars such as Rihanna for being “ugly” on Twitter, has insisted she needs plastic surgery and was arrested after throwing a bong out of a window in New York City. She turned up at a court appearance earlier this month wearing a bright blue wig.

TMZ is now reporting the star has been placed under a 5150 hold, after starting a fire outside someone’s home on Monday.

“Law enforcement sources tell us the fire department responded to the home in Thousand Oaks, CA last night… and called the sheriff’s department after finding Amanda standing in the driveway next to the campfire,” reports the site.

Amanda was questioned by attending officers about her behaviour and based on her replies she was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.

The 5150 legislation is used to force people into hospital to have their mental state evaluated. People can be kept in for up to 72 hours and it is the same law which was used when Britney Spears had her public meltdown.

The news comes after it was claimed Amanda was questioned after she caught trespassing at a retirement home on Sunday.

That was also in the Thousand Oaks area of California, where the 27-year-old was born and raised.

There has been speculation that Amanda’s family have become increasingly worried about her tumultuous behaviour of late. It was claimed they wanted to make her the subject over a conservatorship order like Britney, although Amanda has always claimed she doesn’t need help and is simply increasing her fan base by acting outlandishly.
