Avril Lavigne wanted guests at her wedding to Chad Kroeger to feel like they were on a “crazy vacation”.
Avril Lavigne wanted her wedding to be a “crazy vacation”.
The singer officially tied the knot to Chad Kroeger on July 1 at the Chateau de la Napoule medieval castle near Cannes, France.
The rocker donned a black Monique Lhuillier gown for the three-day party which ended on Canada Day and she was intent on making it a great occasion for attendees.
“I wanted to make sure it’s a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests,” she told Canada’s Hello magazine.
“I wanted it to be over the top. I’m obsessed with castles and I love French décor and goth … I found this castle in France and we visited it and it was perfect.”
She said “I do” to the Nickelback frontman in front of 110 guests.
The 28-year-old star and her 38-year-old spouse got very emotional during the nuptials.
“When you’ve got that ring on your finger that you get to look at every single day, and you get to call that other person husband or wife, it’s a really special feeling,” Chad shared.
The couple spent time together last February when he contributed to her latest album, Here’s To Never Growing Up.
He then proposed in August, presenting Avril with a 14-carat diamond ring.
This is Avril’s second marriage, as she was formerly wed to Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley.
