Beyoncé Knowles sings with ‘mummy voice’

Beyoncé Knowles has revealed she wants to inspire women and young girls to follow their dreams.

Beyoncé Knowles has a “mummy voice” she puts on to sing to her daughter.

The R&B diva revealed when she serenades Blue Ivy, her first child with husband Jay-Z, she tries to keep her vocals simple and soothing.

The former Destiny’s Child star is renowned for her commanding voice, but joked that she only belts out her power ballads when she performs.

“I do, but I have a mummy voice. It’s not [Crazy In Love]. I keep my Beyoncé voice for the stage and I have my simple mummy voice [for my daughter],” she told UK TV show Lorraine when asked if she sings to her child. “I would love to sing nursery rhymes but I remember hearing a story about Céline Dion and she was like, ‘When I sing my son cries’. And I thought that was so funny, because she has the most beautiful voice in the world and she’s like, ‘He hates it!’ So I say, maybe I just give a little simple nursery rhyme voice to my toddler.”

Beyoncé also spoke of the responsibility of being a role model for other women.

The Love On Top singer said that she wants to inspire young girls to follow their dreams.

“There are a lot of people that look up to me and I do respect that. Especially women, I feel like we need each other so much and we need to know how powerful we are, so that is really my message,” she said. “Take care of your business, take care of your dreams and know that it is possible. Be the leader, be the president!”
