Paris Hilton burglary ‘shook foundations of world’

Paris Hilton recalls the nightmarish 2011 experience in which burglar Nathan Lee Parada attempted to break into her home while wielding knives.

Paris Hilton thought she faced certain death whilst being burglarised.

In 2011 the 32-year-old businesswoman-and-heiress and her beau at the time Cy Waits woke up in the middle of the night to a knife-wielding man.

Nathan Lee Parada was trying to break into her Los Angeles home.

“It was terrifying. I had never experienced anything like that before and it really shook the foundations of my world,” she recalled to British newspaper The Sun.

“It was about 5am when I heard someone banging on my window. I went downstairs and saw a crazy guy outside with two huge kitchen knives in his hands.

“He looked like he wanted to kill me and he kept banging on the windows, demanding to be let in.

“I screamed. I was certain he would kill me if he could get inside.”

Nathan was sentenced to two years in a state prison for the crime in April 2011.

Just weeks later during July 4 Independence Day celebrations Paris’ stalker James Rainford was arrested for violating his protective order. He was taken into custody after attempting to invade her Malibu home.

Paris reveals her life was forever altered following the horrifying incidents.

“I was scared to leave my house. I was paranoid someone was following me all the time,” she said.

“It was strange that someone could do that — cause so much fear — but the two attacks had a profound effect on me. I started to think I was going to be killed.

“It got to the point where I was not able to do everyday things.

“I put the most advanced security system in my house and hired a full-time security team.

“I stopped going to clubs and parties and I started focussing on my business interests instead.”
