Zach Galifianakis surprised staff at a New York City nightclub by turning up for an evening recently.
Zach Galifianakis stunned comedy club staff by turning up for a shift after jokingly being asked if he’d like to work there.
The comedy star is currently promoting The Hangover III which is the final instalment in the franchise about a group of friends with dreadful luck.
Before he found fame in Hollywood, the 43-year-old star spent his time working at a comedy club in New York City. Manager of establishment Stand Up NY thought it would be fun to have Zach back recently, but never expected him to turn up.
“Zach used to work at my club Stand Up NY as a night manager. I tweeted him as a joke asking him if he can come in… to fill a shift as a night manager,” Dani Zoldan explained on Facebook. “He came in!”
The rotund star decided against working properly this time around and instead enjoyed the acts on offer. He apparently arrived on his own and headed to the bar, before taking up a spot at the back of the venue so he could watch the comedians.
“No one bothered him, let alone realised it was him,” an insider told New York Post.
Stunned staff hatched a plan to get the star on stage for a short period, but he wasn’t too keen. Zach explained he was happier watching the fun than creating it himself.
“He said the club looked better than when he used to work there,” an insider explained. “He hadn’t been to the club in at least four-plus years.”
Zach has been in New York to promote The Hangover III, which also stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and Heather Graham and hits screens later this month.
