Reese Witherspoon’s Atlanta Police Department cap is not genuine.
Reese Witherspoon’s Atlanta Police Department cap is a fake.
TMZ reports the hat, which Reese was spotted wearing this weekend, is a “cheap, ugly knockoff”.
The news dismisses rumours Reese received a free hat from the department after her arrest for disorderly conduct two weeks ago.
“We did not give her that hat. We have no idea where she got that hat,” Senior Officer Stanionis from the Atlanta Police Department Public Affairs Department told the website.
“In fact, that’s an awful hat. Looks like a patch glued onto a hat and it’s not a good one.”
Reese’s husband Jim Toth was stopped by Atlanta police on April 19 for driving under the influence. The actress was charged after losing her temper while her spouse was being taken into custody.
Reese entered into a verbal disagreement with the arresting officer and ignored his request to stay inside the vehicle.
An embarrassing video of the moment she was handcuffed recently hit the Internet. The star was captured talking back to the police officer and expressing bewilderment at the reasons for her arrest.
On Thursday, Reese pled “no contest” to the charge of “physical obstruction of another” and was ordered to pay a $213 fine.
Reese’s husband Jim was in court to plead guilty to his DUI charge in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jim, a CAA talent agent, will have to perform 40 hours of community service and attend an alcohol education programme.
He will also be placed on probation for 12 months.
