Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire's The Great Gatsby party had "A-listers everywhere".
Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Great Gatsby party was like “New York’s version of the Globes”.
The Hollywood actor and co-star Tobey Maguire celebrated the premiere of their latest film at The Darby Restaurant in the city after a VIP screening at the Lincoln Center.
The pair entertained a glittering A-list crowd at the 1920’s-inspired event, following the movie’s after-party at the Plaza Hotel on Wednesday night.
Director Baz Luhrmann, Jay-Z, Carey Mulligan, Jamie Foxx, Amanda Seyfried, Jake Gyllenhaal and Coco Rocha were all amongst the party-goers, with one guest suitably impressed by the exclusive affair.
“It was like New York’s version of the Globes with A-listers everywhere — at one table Leo, Tobey, Jen [Meyer] , Tom Hardy and Baz; another with Jay-Z, Florence Welch and Jake; and another with Jamie, Lil Jon, and Rohan [Marley],” an onlooker exclaimed.
While Voli cocktails were being served at the event, a witness told the New York Post that British songstress Florence “got excited” when her soundtrack song Over the Love was played.
“She jumped on a banquette and started dancing,” the onlooker revealed.
Leonardo, Jay-Z and Jake reportedly moved their party to renowned New York City club 10AK where they “took over the VIP section of the club until 4 am.”
The Great Gatsby is a modern adaptation based on the legendary Americana tome written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Leonardo recently revealed that once promotion for the project wraps up, he will go on a professional hiatus for a while.
“To me, right now it’s about getting a little breather – getting some time off. Not a permanent break or not an indefinite period, but you know, just a few months off to do some other things,” he explained.
