Olivia Wilde believes her “conservative prom” experience was quite boring and she hopes that homosexual students will feel comfortable going to the high school dance with partners in the future.
Olivia Wilde’s high school prom was nowhere near as exciting as the ones kids have now.
Despite her glamorous Hollywood life, Olivia, 29, went to a very strict boarding school.
The star had a laugh about her scandal-free prom night.
“Ours was a very conservative prom,” she joked to America’s OK! magazine.
“I went to boarding school. I think it was on a boat, so that no one could jump – so that no one could leave.”
Olivia is a proponent of homosexual civil rights.
She believes all school dances should accept every pupil as they are.
“I was recently in Kansas City, and I met a kid who wasn’t allowed to go to his prom because he’s gay,” Olivia recalled.
“He wasn’t allowed to bring his boyfriend. It sickened me. When I think of prom now, I think of him. I think that’s ridiculous. Hopefully prom, for everyone this year, is about love.”
When it comes to love, Olivia is in a very happy place in her life – she confirmed her engagement to Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis on Twitter on January 13, 2013.
She was was previously married to Italian filmmaker Tao Ruspoli from 2003 to 2011.
