Melissa McCarthy ‘seeks health advice from cousin’

Melissa McCarthy has reportedly asked her cousin Jenny McCarthy for tips on getting healthy.

Melissa McCarthy has reportedly turned to her cousin Jenny McCarthy for healthy lifestyle tips.

The American actress was recently criticised for her rotund shape by a critic of her movie Identify Thief, who liked her to a “female hippo”.

Although Melissa doesn’t let negative comments affect her, she’s apparently started to experience health problems recently. Her breath has been short and has been warned she needs to get serious about her body issues.

“Doctors have suggested Melissa lose 50lbs. for her long-term well-being,” an insider told National Enquirer.

The actress apparently immediately turned to her good friend and cousin Jenny for help. The talk show host slimmed down by 60lbs. using the Weight Watchers plan in 2006 and is said to be more than happy to help.

Melissa is said to have been thinking of her two daughters when it comes to her new exercise regime. She also thinks it could help her TV show Mike & Molly, which also stars Billy Gardell.

“The sitcom is about two people who meet and fall in love at Overeaters Anonymous. If Molly suddenly gets trimmer while Mike is still really big, it just opens up new storylines,” the insider explained.

Last year, Melissa discussed body image and said she always keeps her daughters at the forefront of her mind when thinking about her body. While she would like to be a different shape, she doesn’t want to pass on an obsession with dieting.

“Sometimes I wish I were just magically a size six and I never had to give [my weight] a single thought,” she said.

“But I am weirdly healthy, so I don’t beat myself up about it – it wouldn’t help, and I don’t want to pass that on to my girls."
