The Wanted's Nathan Sykes is having trouble sleeping after temporarily leaving the band to undergo throat surgery.
The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes is so worried he “can’t sleep” after being forced to take a temporary hiatus.
Today it was announced the boyband star would be undergoing surgery on his throat to save his voice after suffering a “haemorrhaging nodule” on his vocal cords.
The operation is due to take place tomorrow, which coincides with the singer’s 20th birthday.
The stress of the past few days seems to have taken its toll on Nathan.
“Gutted …” he tweeted, adding: “Can’t sleep. So much on my mind. (sic)”
Whereas his bandmates Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Tom Parker haven’t commented individually, The Wanted’s official Twitter page has been gathering support from fans.
The hashtag #GetWellNath was also started and promptly used by well-wishers.
“Our lil Nath has to go in for an op on his throat on his birthday to make him better so join us in wishing him well.We love ya! #GetWellNath,” a post on their official page reads.
“We will be passing on all your words of support and love, it means the world to him and you definitely help us all through this #GetWellNath (sic)”
The Wanted boys are busy working on their new album in the studio and also have various music festivals and a world tour coming up.
Following the surgery, the 19-year-old apparently won’t be able to talk for a month, leaving him worried it could threaten his singing career in the long run.
“We can confirm that The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes will undergo specialist throat surgery on Thursday April 18 in Los Angeles and as such will be taking unforeseen hiatus from The Wanted,” a spokesperson said today.
“The priority for Nathan, his label and management is that he is given time to recover and receive the best treatment possible. The remaining four members of The Wanted will continue fulfilling the bands promotional commitments across the world.”
To add to his troubles, Nathan also recently split from his singer girlfriend Dionne Bromfield, 17.
