Steve Carell likes to announce his arrival at a cinema by making a speech before the film starts.
Steve Carell has joked he doesn’t try to keep a low-profile in cinemas and prefers to introduce himself to everyone.
While some Hollywood stars try to disguise themselves when they step out in public, the funny man loves being spotted by fans. Steve has a few tried-and-tested tricks to ensure people know exactly who he is whenever he arrives in a movie theatre.
“I actually make an announcement in front of the screen when I go the movies,” he laughed to UK TV show Lorraine on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards. “I say, ‘Hello everyone, welcome to the theatre. I am not in this movie, but I do hope that you enjoy it.’ Then I buy everybody popcorn.”
Steve also discussed the Anchorman sequel as he attended the glitzy awards ceremony yesterday.
He is reprising his role as loveable TV weatherman Brick Tamland in Anchorman: The Legend Continues and has promised that fans of the franchise will enjoy the next instalment.
“It’s pretty good,” Steve smiled to MTV News. “Here’s what I was thinking, because I just flew back [from the Anchorman set], and I’m flying back tonight: if you like the first Anchorman, you will like or love this movie. If you didn’t like it, all bets are off. But man, it’s funny. I think it’s really funny, so, I don’t know – fingers crossed!”
Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate are also returning for the follow-up, while Harrison Ford and Kristen Wiig are new additions to the cast.
Producer Judd Apatow recently revealed the script for the new film is “more secret than the next Star Wars”.
Anchorman: The Legend Continues will be released worldwide from December.
