Gerard Butler has recalled when his “arm turned black from getting punched for literally two days” while filming new action movie Olympus Has Fallen.
Gerard Butler reveals he was beat up quite a bit while filming Olympus Has Fallen.
The 43-year-old Scottish actor stars as a disgraced former presidential guard in the action thriller about a terrorist attack on the White House.
Gerard’s body was battered throughout the shoot.
“I broke two little bones in my neck. My arm turned black from getting punched in my arm for literally two days. It looked like a dead person’s arm, it was weird,” he revealed to British newspaper The Daily Mail during the London red carpet premiere of the film.
“I hurt my throat, I don’t even know how that happened. But you know what, that’s all part of it. You’re in it! And you come out feeling like you’re really in the White House fighting terrorists.”
Gerard has a long history of being physically brutalised while shooting movies.
While filming a stunt scene for his surfing feature Of Men and Mavericks in 2011, Gerard was taken down by a wave and then held under water by the pounding sea.
He was rushed to Stanford Medical Centre in California soon after and was released promptly following a medical evaluation.
While promoting Machine Gun Preachers a couple years back Gerard revealed to Us Weekly he “ripped a tendon” in his groin and was “shot twice in the head” by blanks on set.
