Justin Timberlake has scored his first number one single in the UK since the 2006 release of SexyBack with new single Mirrors.
Justin Timberlake’s new single Mirrors is storming music charts in the UK.
The 32-year-old’s new eight-minute track features on his new album, The 20/20 Experience.
Mirrors marks Justin’s second number one single in the UK since his 2006 hit SexyBack from his last album, FutureSex/LoveSounds.
Mirrors beat Bastille’s Pomepii on the UK singles chart. The newcomer trailed at second place with Justin selling 13,000 more copies than the quartet from South London.
One Direction slid from one to three with the boyband’s hit One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks).
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ single Thrift Shop, featuring Wanz, came in at four.
Avicii vs. Nicky Romero’s I Could Be The One rounded out the top five for the week.
Mirrors is the second single released from Justin’s highly-anticipated third studio album.
His first single, Suit & Tie, enjoyed wide commercial success but peaked at four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and failed to make it to the top of the pile in the UK.
Justin, who spent much of the last five years focusing on his acting career, is throwing himself back into music.
The 20/20 Experience is scheduled to hit shelves later this month.
Justin is meanwhile scheduled to launch a 12-city tour across the US and Canada with Suit & Tie collaborator Jay-Z this summer.
The singer also recently spoke about his latest collaborator, Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford.
The pair worked together for a track featured in Justin’s forthcoming movie, Coen brothers’ drama Inside Llewyn David.
“Marcus and myself, we all kind of worked on the music together and I don’t know any other world where we would have the opportunity to collaborate like that but it was so much fun,” he told America’s Capital FM radio on Tuesday. “So not only will that be a great movie, but the music to it will be fantastic.”
Inside Llewyn Davis is scheduled for release later this year.
