J.J. Abrams set to direct 'Star Wars: Episode VII'

At long last, Disney's "Star Wars" sequel has found its director — and it's a bold choice, to say the least.

“Star Trek” filmmaker J.J. Abrams is Disney’s choice to direct “Star Wars: Episode VII,” MTV News has confirmed the report with a source close to the production.

Abrams has been a favorite choice among Star Wars-fans for his involvement in the Star Trek franchise. At first he was hesitant, saying that he wanted to focus on his Trek roots. Now, however, the tide has changed and he is onboard the Star Wars cruiser.

“Star Wars: Episode VII” hits theaters in 2015.
