Beyoncé Knowles is set to perform at the BRIT Awards next month.
The superstar singer is making a comeback in 2013 following the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy last year. Just a few weeks after headlining at the NFL Super Bowl in the US, Beyoncé will be taking to the stage at another high-profile event.
“Beyoncé coming to the BRITs is a huge coup for organisers,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. “She’s among the best live pop acts on the planet and will have brand new material to play for the audience.
“The last time she played the BRITs, nine years ago, was at the start of her solo career, singing Crazy In Love. So it’s apt that she’s back this year.”
Beyoncé is the first international star to commit to appearing on stage at the prestigious UK awards ceremony.
British acts already confirmed to perform include One Direction, Mumford & Sons, Muse and Robbie Williams.
The Rolling Stones, who are in the running to be named best live act this year, recently expressed their interest in performing.
Keith Richards is happiest when he’s playing music and wants to thank his fans with a live jam session.
“Onstage is where we belong,” Keith said. “When I’m up there with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie, everything is rocking, so a big thanks to BRIT fans and the BRITs nom!”
Beyoncé’s last big show in the UK was her headline set at the iconic Glastonbury music festival in 2011. The 31-year-old star recently announced she has reunited with her Destiny’s Child bandmates for a new compilation album.
The 2013 BRIT Awards will be presented by comic star James Corden and will take place at The O2 Arena on February 20.
